In this Post I’ll Go over the Steps I Take When Coming up with a name for a startup

Coming up with a name for a startup may be the most important part of your business journey. It is often the first thing someone notices about your business and if done well will never be forgotten, of course, marketing/branding, product/service, and customer service play very important roles as well. Ok, enough chit-chat lets get down to why you’re here.


Step 1: Brainstorming

First thing you want to do is brainstorm… Think of two phrases that describe your business. In this example, we’ll use dog walking.

First work is dog
Second word is walking

Next you’re going to look a handful of synonyms for each word, compiling them into a list

ie. for Dog

  1. pup
  2. puppy
  3. doggy
  4. hound
  5. mutt
  6. pooch
  7. tyke
  8. bowwow
  9. fido
  10. fleabag
  11. man’s best friend
  12. tail-wagger

ie. for Walking

  1. hike
  2. parade
  3. stroll
  4. tour
  5. stretch
  6. step
  7. march
  8. stride
  9. fido
  10. tread
  11. circuit
  12. ramble

Step 2: Domain Lookup

Once you’ve came up with a few good names, it’s time to take those names and combine them.

With your name combinations, ie. puphikes, doogymarch, fleabagstrolls (note: you can make them plural too) – go over to and see if any of the combinations you came up with are available for registration. This is very important for branding your business and finding one of these combinations in a domain will help make your brand look more polished and professional.

when you go to Namecheap make sure and input the word combination like this, (fun side note! this domain is still available and it is pretty good, but I may buy it so if you’re reading this, BUY IT QUICK! another side note, domain purchasing is kind of like stocks or real-estate, in fact it is digital real-estate that will only grow in the future so buy all the domains you can while they are still relatively cheap.)

Step 3: State Registration

Once you’ve checked the domain and found a name for your business, its time to check if it’s available on a state level (chances are 99.9999999999999999% sure it is available if the domain is still available.

Once all three of theses requirements are met – you’re done!! Yoou’ve found a really solid name to grow with 🙂

Description: In this video, I cover why it’s SO important to stick to a schedule aka (Startup Schedule) when starting your business. How you have to think of it like a 9-5+++ job, and disregard misconceptions about freedom, at least in the startup phase.

Schedules are difficult, imparticular for someone like me who could work 24/7. Call it a curse, call it a strength. I/(my ex’s) would say it’s a bit a both, more for the latter. (I guess I’m kind of the guy you love until you hate, with a vengeance! but I digress.)

If you’re like me, a ‘go 24/7’ kind of person, you find it a challenge to stick to a set schedule, in particular staying on a specific task (Dang ADHD!). However, if you want your business to succeed you need to set an effective schedule and stick to it to the ‘T’, also set up a regimen of important tasks, only you can do! Once you start to stick to those tasks, you establish a pattern. Remember to fine-tune your regimen, only focusing on the most essentially BOSS tasks, ones that will grow your business.

Before you know it, you will have created a pattern of success. One you can use for any business.

POWERTIP: at some point, you will find no matter how well you distribute your time, you will start to fall behind as your business grows. That’s when you know its time to HIRE SOME PEEPS to help care the load and grow your business to the phase.

First. what is a brand ambassador?

brand ambassadors are customers/clients who love your brand (product or service) so much they tell their friends about you through several methods of delivery most notably, social media and word of mouth.

Now, that you know what a brand ambassador is, it’s important to know why? Why? would you want to create a community of loyal brand ambassadors? I think that answer is apparent, but let me go over it just for fluffs and giggles. Ambassadors, either paid or non-paid ones are going to promote your product in a favorable light. Painting an image of your product or service to potential customers.

Let’s take Nike as an example.. I could be an alien, from an entirely different universe, I never have seen anything from Earth, and I crash-landed in Time Square in NYC. Can you see me there? Yes you can!

I’m sure within a few hours I would know the big brands of Earth, Nike included, I would see an ad in Time Square of some basketball player sporting Niyks and then some others walking with the very same pair of shoes on the street and bam! Now my cute little alien self runs into the closes Nike store to get a new pair of fresh Nikes with pink laces or something, but I don’t have any money so I have to kill everyone inside the Nike store and eat them… Because I’m an alien..

let’s go over how you can get people to become ambassadors for you.

Step 1. Offer great customer service as well as a great product or service.

This may be a simple answer, but an essential step to creating long-lasting brand ambassadors and repeat customers/clients.


Step 2: Find influencers through social media, most notably Instagram to promote your product.

This is one of the best ways to create buzz around your product or service. Important note: you want to find influencers who target a related field as you but do not offer a conflicting product or service.


Do a hashtag search on Instagram. make a list of 3-10 keywords and search the hashtags. Then locate pages (influencers) who have promoted a product or service similar to yours (but not the same) IMPORTANT!

Next: Make a list of influencers, this list will be determined based on your budget. Note each influencer is going to have a different cost for promoting your product.

Step 3: Create a Ambassador Contest on social

In this step you are going to reach out to past/current/future customers, utilizing your customer list from social media, website contact forms, and email lists (I love those!!) Think of a prize or a tier of prizes to give-away to winners from each platform of ambassadors.

I use these 3 useful wordpress plugins in most of the WordPress websites I develop and they have made my life so much easier.

First most useful WordPress plugins: Shortcode Ultimate

First off, I love this plugin!! And as the title of the plugin says it is and ‘ULTIMATE’ list of very useful shortcodes. Shortcodes like, sliders, galleries, lists, dropdown menus, accordion tabs, lightbox functions and more.. A lot of more, in fact there a more than 40 of these bad boys, included in this FREE plugin and inserting them into a page couldn’t be easier… You simply click the ‘Insert Shortcode’ button above your WordPress post editor and select the shortcode you would like to use. That’s it!

Second most useful WordPress plugins: Contact Form 7

Number 2 on our list is the Contact Form 7 plugin! This little guy is a really helpful plugin.. It allows you to create simple to very advanced contact forms. All you do to use this plugin is download, install and enter the ‘Contact Form 7 Admin Page’ from the WordPress dashboard. There you can edit and create your contact forms with what ever questions you would like to ask on your contact form for your website. Then you attached the associated shortcode to page you want the contact form to display. This plugin also integrate with a lot of cool tools, including CRMs aka customer relation managers.

Third most useful WordPress plugins: Yoast SEO for WordPress

Last but certainly not least on the list is the Yoast SEO for WordPress plugin. This plugin allows you to easily add SEO search engine optimization to your pages in WordPress. You can see how your SEO looks to search engines and it even ranks your pages from Red to Green. Red being BAD, Yellow being OK, and Green being GOOD!
